As they say, "If you want to stay grounded, you have to be well rooted". At KSO, our mission and vision has been to facilitate our younger generation to know more about our cultural motherland "India" and our native language of "Kannada/Karnataka". The KSO working committee is always looking to provide the right tools and platform to our younger kids, for them to be able to explore the immense richness of our culture and also contributions in the modern world of science and technology. The more we learn about these contributions, we will wear our language and culture on our sleeves with pride.
Parents of Canadian-born teenagers often face the challenge of helping their teens establish a meaningful connection with their cultural heritage, particularly regarding the depth and richness of our culture, language and traditions.
To foster a strong connection and a sense of pride in their heritage, we at KSO plan most of our events with the specific goal of bridging this cultural gap and enabling the younger generation to proudly associate themselves with their ancestral land.
Come, feast your eyes and soak in the culture! Twenty awesome Cana-diga youth from our very own Kannada Sangha, Ottawa, recently took us on a cultural journey through our beloved Karunaadu. They highlighted Karnataka's incredible contributions in Science & Tech, Health, History, Traditional Arts & Crafts, Biodiversity, and those visionary leaders who truly put Karnataka on the world's map. Come, walk with us as we dive into this fascinating experience!
A round of applause to the KSO youth that made it happen!!
These kids were given simple directions: collect and research information as a team, meeting to rehearse presentations if needed. That was it! The kids crushed it, completing their research and assembling their trifolds in less than two weeks—record time! The breadth and dept of information they collected and presented was truly phenomenal.
Please give a huge, well-deserved round of kudos to these all-star teams!!
As to what our young Kannadiga youth gained from this experience, see for yourself:

"After spending many days researching about the Western Ghats, I feel like I have learnt a lot about them.
